AUTUMN

Fall is my favorite time of the year---spring really is, too, but right now I’m in the mood for fall…..fall clothes are definitely my favorite, and some of the looks for this fall are right up my alley.

Michael Kors - Fall 2010

I also start looking at my own house and my clients’ houses to see what we can do to bring fall inside, and think about new ideas (or old ones) for inspiration.

Here are a few of the things I’m dreaming of this fall……

PARIS

The first thing I do when I get to Paris is go for a walk in the Tuileries. How can one not be inspired by the air, the light, the trees and the Parisians?

My all time favorite movie made in Paris --- Charade

I think of this movie so often when walking around Paris---buy it or rent it for the fabulous Paris locations, Audrey’s wardrobe by Givenchy as well as the wonderful music by Henry Mancini.

My favorite wait staff at Le Voltaire                                              Le Voltaire

Paris is so wonderful in the fall---lots of great antiques because the dealers have been buying all summer, and, the restaurants have delicious fall foods.   We return to all of our haunts----Le Voltaire, L’ami Louis and Brasserie Lipp.  Why is simple roasted chicken better in Paris than anywhere else?  Hint---L’ami Louis uses goose fat to cook theirs---sorry vegetarians; it is truly a taste treat!

Street photo from the Sartorialist

The streets of Paris are filled with fashionable French women who always dress in a timeless manner.

The shops on the Left Bank and St. Honore have the most marvelous windows and are always inspiring to me----colors, shapes and delicious design ideas.

Palais Royale

The Palais Royale is one of my favorite places to walk and browse.  We always end up in a little tea/ coffee shop that has the best hot chocolate in the world (and I’m not kidding!).  There are marvelous shops on both sides of the Palais----vintage fashion, miniatures and so many more.   Did you know that Jean Cocteau used to live in the apartments there?  Of course, prior to Versailles, this is where the kings lived when they were in residence in Paris.

The Rachofsky House

ART is always on my mind in the fall with my favorite event of the year coming in October----Two by Two benefiting Aids and Art.  The art at this event is simply spectacular.  There will be works available from major artists that collectors will be vying for.  I can hardly wait to see what’s in store for this year.  To check it out, or to bid online, go to http://2x2online.org/. What is more inspiring than good art?
