Rainy day in Paris
Even though I wrote about Paris on my last Notebook post, we just returned from there, and I am even more inspired. The city was at its best! I love late September and early October in the City of Light.
Here are a few of the things we found—there is so much more---this is just a sample. The shipment will be in by mid November.

It is always so inspiring to visit the fabulous antique shops on the Left Bank. My favorite periods are still late late 1930’s, all of the 40’s and early 50’s, but there are some incredible pieces that mix well from the 60’s and 70’s. I am particularly fond of the bronze (or brass) lamps, coffee tables, and, we found a wonderful opaline and brass console with doors that I would use in almost any interior.

I saw some wonderful new textiles as well……I am going to use this Boussac in a little girl’s room.

We loved our hotel---The Lancaster on Rue de Berri----it is a small hotel just off the Champs and the staff is simply wonderful. We had not stayed there in years as we love to stay right on the edge of the Tuilleries. We stayed at The Lancaster on an important anniversary many years ago and since we are approaching another important anniversary, we thought it would be nostalgic. It was---we stayed in the same suite (which was quite by accident as they had no record).

MAD MEN/ THE 60’S AND 70’S
Even though it is not being shown yet in France (it will be soon), Mad Men’s influence is everywhere. In case you haven’t noticed, it is here in the U.S. as well----hairstyles, makeup and clothes----see Drew Barrymore channeling the look of Sharon Tate, Jean Shrimpton and Verushka from the 60’s in the October Harper’s Bazaar. Don’t miss the bed and coverlet---over the top glamorous!

GLAM TABLES TO GO BY CHAIRS----nothing can add a small touch of glamour to a room quicker than this. The one pictured below is bronze Bagues form the 1940’s and is in our showroom now…..a true work of art!
