Care & Maintenance
Wood, Lacquer, and Leafed Finishes:
Wood, lacquer, and leafed finishes are hand applied in many layers and steps. All furniture is susceptible to normal wear and tear over time with age. Clean or dust finish by using a soft dry cotton or microfiber cloth. Never use cleaners, waxes, or furniture polish of any kind as this can damage the hand applied finish.
Solid Brass & Nickel Plated Brass - This metal is a living and natural material that will patina with time & age as a characteristic. Metal polish and a soft dry cotton or microfiber cloth can be used on unsealed polished brass or unsealed polished nickel to regain a shiny appearance if a natural patina is not desired. Metal polish brands that are recommended include Brasso, Simichrome, Flitz, or MAAS Metal Polish. Any of these polishes will bring back the original shininess. Metal polishes should never be used on an item that has a sealed finish as this will break the sealant coat due to abrasives in the polish.
Solid Bronze - This metal is a living and natural material that will patina with time & age as a characteristic. Our bronze items such as the Harrison series are made with a sealed bronze finish. A soft dry cotton or microfiber cloth should be used for light dusting of the sealed bronze finish. Never use cleaners, waxes or metal polish of any kind as this can damage and break the sealant coat on the bronze.
Glass & Mirror:
Glass tops can be cleaned using a soft damp cloth or with a mild glass cleaner. Always apply glass cleaner directly to the soft cloth before cleaning. Applying directly to the glass top on the furniture piece can cause overspray that may damage the wood or metal finish.
Murano glass or mineral lamps should always be dusted with a clean dry soft cloth or very slightly damp soft cloth. Never use cleaners directly on the lamps or Lucite bases.
Shades are made from a lacquered paper or silk. Lampshades can be dusted using a clean soft dry cloth or a clean feather duster. Any marks or stains on shades usually cannot be cleaned. Please contact Jan Showers Collection regarding the purchasing of replacement shades if needed.

All Jan Showers Collection items are made with COM/COL that is provided by each client. Please contact the fabric/leather manufacturer of the provided material for proper cleaning instructions.
