As an interior decorator, Jan Showers began building furniture for her clients, creating custom pieces when the appropriate antique couldn't be found. These pieces exuded style, versatility, and glamour. When Showers decided to create the Jan Showers Collection, she looked for designs that continued this tradition. Many pieces were inspired by original antiques found on regular buying trips to Paris for her antiques showroom in Dallas and refined to reflect a modern yet glamorous lifestyle. These pieces came from periods as diverse as the Directoire period to twentieth century modern.

Choosing designs that ultimately mix with different interiors, from traditional to modern, is Showers' real inspiration. The collection is not about reproduction of period pieces, but the creation of timeless and sophisticated designs. Each piece in the collection is made to order by hand and is available in custom sizes.

Materials used in the Jan Showers Collection reflect Shower's elegant aesthetic. Solid woods and veneers such as merisier, beech, sycamore, mahogany, rosewood, macassar ebony & ebony are finished with French polish to bring out the richness of their grains and qualities. Textiles in understated hues include pig suede, polished leather, natural zebra hide & cowhide. Mineral and Venetian series lamps that are inspired by the late 1940's and 50's are individually selected and mounted on clean Lucite bases. These luxurious materials define the Jan Showers interior.
